January 1943:
Statement: We were up at a hill station, St Thomas Mount it was called, the nights were ever so cold, bone cols.

16 April 1943:

22 April 1943:
Army Service records: 31/4/43, Unit: 2 R. Berks - Trans 38 BGH - Place of Casualty, India.

05 May 1943:
Army Service records: 33/1/43, Unit: 2 R. Berks - Dis Hos Posted to TSOS X(ii) - Place of Casualty, India.

September 1943:
Statement: Deolali, Nasik Road, near Deolali, there was a mental hospital there. It was at Nasik that we underwent mule training.

November 1943:
Statement: When I was posted to the 2nd Battalion in November, '43 they were operating as an internal security force looking after the Indian people south of Bangalore.

1943:
Statement: I went into hospital at Deolali to have my appendix out, that was in 43.

1943:
Statement: At this time I was on leave at Naini Tal in the Himalayan foothills.

1943:
Statement: From Deolali we were put on a train, a journey of 3-4 days to a training camp in the jungle for more experience of jungle warfare, and when I say jungle it truly was.
