Testimonial:
        The A/M joined the 2nd Bn Royal Berks in August '44 and was in action 
        with the Bn with 14th Army during the Burma Campaign. He has since been 
        employed in the officer's mess where he has proved thoroughly reliable 
        and has carried out his duties both efficiently and conscientiously.
Returned Home:
        To his mother at
        18 Stanshawe Road, Reading, Berkshire after serving his King and Country 
        for 6 Years 3 Months 5 Days.
        
        In 1944 while serving overseas, George was not granted permission to return 
        to the U.K. to attend his fathers funeral.
