Sgt. George Chappell, Tiny Chappell to his comrades, first enlisted on the 1 January 1931, later re-enlisting for the second time in 1939. He served with the 66th Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment and in 1939 was part of the British Expeditionary Force, South East Asian Command and saw service in Bombay, Chittagong, Mayo Ridge and the Arakhan with the Intelligence Corp.
